Jeannette once housed seven glass factories that formed the foundation of the local economy. After the downturn of the glass industry in the 1970’ and ‘80’s Jeannette fell into an economic slump, but has recently began to change for the better with new businesses and leadership. You Are Here is partnering with the Jeannette Aea Historical Society to present a showcase of subject specific art by area artists depicting, through a historical lens, the rebirth that is happening in Jeannette.
Participating artists include Erin Waller, Steve Parsons, Pamela Cooper, Don Wentworth, Scott Silsbe, Dennis C. Lee, Mimi Jong, Dawn Wallhausen, and members of the Pittsburgh Urban Sketchers. Art works include photography, painting, poetry, music, and glass.
The exhibition will open at You Are Here and at the Jeannette Area Historical Society during and after the Jeannette Heritage Festival on September 12. The opening is free and the public is cordially invited.
