Floor Troll

Welcome back!

The time has come to prep this quilt for sewing! I’m trying a different technique than last time (I.e., floor troll taping fabric to my kitchen floor then safety pins like crazy). I saw a video about a lady using 2x4s or some other dimension of wood to wrap the layers and keep them secure that way.

I happen to have a long cardboard tube from the mural canvas that the Mad Lab used during the community art project. So rather than hunks of wood, I’m going to see if I can achieve a similar effect of tension and such with the tube and some of my wonder clips.

Revisiting the video, I decided to try a combination. Still #floortroll with taping the back to the kitchen floor, placing my batting, then my quilt top, and securing with safety pins. Last time I just had the whole quilt loosey-goosey while trying to quilt it. This time, I have it rolled on that cardboard tube so it’s neater and secure and I just work on a portion at a time bottom to top.

I think overall that will work for now. Excuse me while I drool over Pinterest quilter’s frames. I’m thinking I may need a bigger table!

As always: If anyone following along would like to donate, batting, fabric, textiles, lace, ribbons, beads, and other sewing notions: please contact You Are Here Art Gallery. Oh, Scrap! Is also open to the public to purchase your own materials to create something new! A wide range of items beyond just the fabric-based that I’m seeking for projects.

Hope you find something neat to create with!

Thanks for stopping by and happy sewing!
