Restless

Feels solidly like spring most days having just celebrated the Spring Equinox. To feed that inner artist, I happily indulged in making a ridiculous cake to celebrate. Vanilla cake with raspberry filling and matcha buttercream icing. Most people are on board until I mention the earthy green tea icing! I think it came together really well though, the raspberry filling really cutting through the sweetness and heaviness of the icing. I love the tartness of raspberries.

With the Spring, though the nights are definitely still cold enough to zap my poor snake plant I left outside by accident, I have the itch for gardening! Houseplant casualty aside, I do enjoy taking care of a garden. Having started a little container garden last year, I’m excited to learn from past hiccups and expand into some more fruits and veggies.

Time definitely seems to go quickly, but I still eagerly await when the local recycle center begins their annual offering of free compost. Paying for bags of Miracle Grow last year was a rough hit on my poor wallet. Takes a surprising amount of soil to fill those containers!

Between baking, dreaming of gardens, spring cleaning, and multiple projects on hold, I’ve been dreaming of writing my own Dungeons and Dragons adventures for my friends! Though I have yet to run a game on my own yet, rather than just being one of the players, I am excited to try. I already wanted to write a choose your own adventure story for the app format, having read and played through an almost embarrassing amount myself.

There are just so many fun things to do and create right now! Thankfully I’ve been able to wrangle that restless energy towards some productive tasks like cleaning the house (no more cobwebs!). Granted, it has made it difficult to sit still and focus long enough to actually do some of those creative ideas. Whether they be writing or sewing.

I’m thankful for the abundance of interests even if it makes it hard to choose which to focus on at any given time!

What project are you excited to start or continue this spring?
